KODA Teen Camp (Ages 13 - 16)

The Camp Mark Seven (CM7) Koda teen camp is a special place designed specifically for hearing children of Deaf parents to explore and celebrate the dual worlds they inherently live in and navigate. This program is led by Coda counselors who have the requisite life experiences and training to work with Koda campers. This program is exclusively designed by and for hearing children of Deaf adults, offering a deliberate space for Kodas to engage in activities that delve into and strengthen their unique Koda identities.

The two-week program takes place in a recreational camping setting, fostering interaction and a variety of activities for campers. These include swimming, tubing, overnight camping canoe trips, outdoor games, arts and crafts, hiking, bonfires, and other evening activities. Additionally, campers get the chance to visit Old Forge and experience New York's largest waterpark, Water Safari.

A key aspect of the camp is the collaborative development of skits for the talent show during parents' night. This creative process allows campers to express themselves and showcase their talents through their experience as a Koda. The talent show is a joyous event at the end of the program, where parents and families are invited to attend and appreciate their hearing children’s enlightening experience at Koda camp. The involvement of families in the talent show and the shared reflections at the end of the program underscore the importance of community and connection in this enriching camp experience.
