Mark Seven Bible Institute

Study Week/Retreat 2010

Responding to the call of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) and, more recently, the 12th Ordinary Assembly of the Synod of Bishops (2008), the Mark Seven Bible Institute aims to provide a deeper encounter with Christ in the Bible for Deaf Catholics.  Established by the V. Revd. Thomas Coughlin, Br. Adam Zawadzki, and Matthew Hysell in 2006, each summer at Camp Mark Seven, MSBI hosts a study week/retreat on a major aspect of Biblical literature, beginning with the Gospel According to John (2006), the Gospel According to Mark (2007), the Gospel According to Matthew (2008) and, in honour of the Pauline Year, Luke-Acts (2009).

Since Pope +Benedict XVI has declared 19 June 2009-19 June 2010 to be the “Year of the Priest“, MSBI will again host a study week/retreat on 9-19 June 2010 on the Letter to the Hebrews.  We will learn about the Catholic Church’s doctrine of Holy Orders, the meaning of Christ’s priesthood, and the “royal priesthood” of all the baptized.  Each day will feature three workshops, two celebrations of the sacred liturgy, shared meals, and nightly events.  During the week we will visit two pilgrimage shrines, shop in Old Forge and Eagle Bay, and enjoy the beauty of the Adirondack Mountains and Fourth lake.

All people who are Deaf or fluent in ASL are welcome!  Please contact Brother Adam Zawadzki or Matthew Hysell for more information, or go here to register.
